Workers Adjust to New Systems Under National Bus Company Transition

Dr. Zabaneh also addressed the human side of the transition, pointing out that adjustments are being made not only at the operational level but also among employees who are adapting to new systems under the National Bus Company.  He noted that some workers are experiencing a cultural shift, particularly those who were previously accustomed to receiving wages in cash and are now being paid directly through the banking system.

Dr. Louis Zabaneh, Minister of Transport: “Most of the people employed right now who are now transitioning to being employees of National Bus Company were employees of those particular operators. They know the business and from the past couple days I must tell you I see them working very hard. This is a business that requires you to be up from three in the morning to ten or eleven at night in terms of the schedules that we have and Ive seen them over the past couple days. Work that is really something that will make sure that we have this profitability and sustainability safeguarded.”

The Minister emphasized that while these changes may take time, they are necessary to bring greater accountability, transparency, and modernization to the transport sector.
