In a separate incident over the weekend, police also charged a woman in connection with drug possession after she was allegedly found with a quantity of narcotics during a routine operation. Authorities say the woman was formally charged after officers recovered the suspected drugs, as part of ongoing efforts to curb the circulation of illegal substances. ASP Stacy Smith also spoke on that arrest.

Stacy Smith, Assistant Superintendent of Police: “Police have formally arrested and charged 59 year old Lydia Castillo of Belize City for the offense of possession of controlled drugs with intent to supply. The arrest of Castillo follows police operations at a residence on Hyde Street in Belize City on Saturday 11th April at approximately 10am. These parcels were weighed and they amounted to 1.9 grams. A further search of the yard led to an additional 8.8 grams of crack which was deposited as found property.”
Police continue to urge members of the public to report domestic disputes and suspicious activity, noting that such reports often lead to the discovery of other criminal offences.
