PUNTA CANA – Jamaica marched to their second straight win in the Caribbean Football Union’s (CFU) Under-14 Boys Tier 1 Challenge Series in the Dominican Republic on Tuesday to remain on course to retain their title.
The junior Reggae Boyz made it two wins in a row by edging Aruba 1-0 to maintain their lead in Group C.
In a match in which clear-cut opportunities were limited, substitute Cristian Foster provided the breakthrough in the 40th minute, when he finished Tai-Sen Headley’s clever back-heel pass to give Jamaica the lead.
The goal proved decisive as Jamaica held on for the win, moving to six points from two matches, while Aruba remains on one point.
Haiti also remained unbeaten by trouncing Trinidad and Tobago 4-1 in their Group B encounter.
Jodeley Delmas set the tone with an early fourth-minute free kick before Wensley Dumorne doubled Haiti’s advantage in the 26th minute. Jerry Petit-Homme then added a third with a long-range effort in the 35th minute, giving Haiti a 3-0 lead at halftime.
Trinidad and Tobago pulled a goal back through Jiair Nanton from the penalty spot after the restart, but Haiti remained firmly in control. Petit-Homme completed his brace in the 67th minute.
In other results, Alijah Mitchum scored a hat-trick to lead St. Kitts and Nevis to a 4-2 victory over Curaçao 4-2, the Dominican Republic edged Barbados 3-2, Bermuda defeated Martinique 2-0 and French Guiana edged Puerto Rico 1-0.
