This week, representatives of the United Nations Development Fund (UNDP) held a series of high-level meetings with government and parliamentary officials in Belize aimed at deepening cooperation in areas including disaster risk management, public sector development, and national resilience.  In the first instance, the National Assembly of Belize hosted UNDP Resident Representative Kishan Khoday, Deputy Resident Representative Michael Lund, and Amilin Mendez for a courtesy visit with Senate President Carolyn Trench-Sandiford, Senator Janelle Chanona, Clerk of the National Assembly Clarita Pech, and Parliamentary Officer Manuel Grant. According to the National Assembly, the meeting served as an opportunity to strengthen collaborative relations and discuss areas of mutual interest.  Meanwhile, the Ministry of Public Service and Disaster Risk Management also met with the UNDP delegation for discussions focused on enhancing Belize’s preparedness and resilience efforts. Minister of Public Service and Disaster Risk Management Henry Charles Usher joined CEO Rolando Zetina, Michael Lund, and UNDP Programme Lead Chad Bowman for talks centered on improving coordination in disaster risk management, supporting public sector capacity building, and identifying opportunities for long-term national development initiatives.  The ministry says it values its ongoing partnership with the UNDP and looks forward to continued collaboration aimed at strengthening public services and building a more resilient Belize.
