A brazen late-night shooting at a residential property south of San Pedro Town has claimed three lives, leaving a community in shock and police actively investigating what appears to be a targeted attack. San Pedro Police responded to reports of a shooting incident at Mosquito Coast, located approximately one mile south of San Pedro Town, at around ten o’clock last night. Upon arriving at an elevated wooden structure at the end of an unnamed street, officers discovered two men lying motionless on the living room floor, each bearing apparent gunshot wounds. The victims were identified as 29-year-old Karim Nazim Espat, a fisherman of the DFC Area, and 35-year-old Oscar Modesto Mas, a carpenter of the same address. A third victim, 21-year-old Yerlin Marisol Bueso Alvarez, a Honduran national of the San Mateo Area was also shot but had already been rushed to the San Pedro Polyclinic before police arrived. Despite the efforts of medical staff, she later succumbed to her injuries. ACP Hilberto Romero, Head of the Criminal Investigation Branch, confirmed that several persons have since been detained in connection with the incident.

ACP Hilberto Romero, Head of National Crimes Investigation Branch: “Information is that all these three-may persons were in a house at the time when several persons arrived at the area, one of them entered the house and fired several shots at them causing their fatal injuries. We have several suspects in custody for this triple murder. That is the residence of Modesto Mas and the others were there staying.”
Reporter: Okay, so do you believe that Mr. Espat was the target ? We know he has faced multiple charges.
ACP Hilberto Romero, Head of National Crimes Investigation Branch: “ That is the information we have that he was the internet target.”
Reporter: What is the motive at this time?
ACP Hilberto Romero, Head of National Crimes Investigation Branch: “This is ongoing rivalry with the two groups in San Pedro over drugs. Well found at the scene were 9mm expended shells as well as 12 gauge cartridge shells.”
Reporter: Is there something that may have prompted this latest attack ? Were they beefing over some active wet drop or was it just ongoing rivalry ?
ACP Hilberto Romero, Head of National Crimes Investigation Branch: “We do not know at this time. I know we have several incidents involving them at San Pedro and the Espat is known to us but the other two no they are not known to us.”
Reporter: The individuals police have detained, are they members of a rival gang ?
ACP Hilberto Romero, Head of National Crimes Investigation Branch: “That is correct they are from a rival faction from San Pedro.”
Reporter: Had there been any recent incidents between these two which may have been a prelude or a preview of this ?
ACP Hilberto Romero, Head of National Crimes Investigation Branch: “Not that we know of. We have had several incidents in the past but we have none that is very recent. We have deployed our major crimes team as well as additional personnel have been sent to San Pedro to prevent any form of retaliation so the investigation continues today. There is always a threat of retaliation so we will deploy personnel so we will deploy personnel to try to prevent any form of retaliation.”
Karim Espat, one of the victims, was known to police for gang affiliation and was currently out on bail with a case pending. Love News understands that there was a fourth person in the house who had managed to escape unhurt. The bodies of Karim Espat and Oscar Mas were subsequently transported to the San Pedro Polyclinic, where they were officially pronounced dead and now await postmortem examination.
