A teenager was shot to death late last night in Guinea Grass Village, Orange Walk District, in a brazen act of violence that has left the community shaken. Nineteen-year-old Noe Batun, a Belizean laborer of Guinea Grass Village, was identified as the victim. Reports are that police responded to information of a shooting at a location known as the Hidden Cool Spot within the village. Upon arrival, officers observed that Batun had sustained multiple gunshot injuries to the left side of his face, neck, and head.

Stacy Smith, Assistant Superintendent of Police: “The investigation comments on Sunday, 22nd March, 2026 at approximately 11:47 p.m. When investigators in that village were advised that an injured Mr. Batun was being ferried to the Northern Regional Hospital, having been shot moments prior. What we have been able to get us so far is that Batun was involved in an altercation in at a bar in that village and the male person who is a suspect in this incident was escorted from that property. It is reported and alleged that that male person returned in the company of another and he is alleged to have fired a shot into the bar which resulted in the injury of Batun and his eventual demise.”
Batun was initially transported by his mother to the Northern Regional Hospital for emergency treatment. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later transferred under police escort to Belize City for further medical care. Despite efforts by medical personnel, he later succumbed to his injuries. Police say investigations are ongoing as they seek to establish a motive behind the fatal shooting and identify those responsible
