Taiwan Naval Fleet Set to Visit Belize for First Time in Over a Decade

For the first time in about 13 years, naval vessels from the Republic of China (Taiwan) are set to return to Belize, signaling a renewed show of friendship and cooperation between the two nations.  The R.O.C. Navy’s 2026 Midshipmen Cruising and Training Squadron is scheduled to arrive on Wednesday, April 22, bringing with it a series of public events aimed at cultural exchange and diplomatic engagement.  The visit marks the first such appearance since 2013, when Taiwan’s goodwill fleet last called on Belize as part of a regional tour. Similar visits have historically included public performances, military exchanges, and community outreach activities designed to strengthen bilateral ties.  The highlight of the visit will be a marching band and martial arts performance at Memorial Park in Belize City, beginning at 9:00 a.m. The showcase is expected to feature precision drills, musical displays, and cultural demonstrations by Taiwanese naval cadets.  Later in the day, the squadron will host an open house aboard the Pan-shi fast combat support ship, where invited guests will be given a guided tour of the vessel following security clearance procedures.  Taiwan’s midshipmen training missions typically span multiple countries across Latin America and the Caribbean, combining naval training with diplomatic outreach. Previous tours have included stops in countries such as Guatemala, Honduras, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines, where cultural showcases and ship tours have drawn large public interest.  Belize remains one of Taiwan’s longstanding diplomatic allies in the region, and the return of the goodwill fleet is being viewed as a symbolic reaffirmation of that relationship.  Members of the public are being encouraged to attend the morning performance, while those interested in the ship tour are reminded that advance registration is required and a valid ID must be presented.  Love News will be on the scene to bring you full coverage of the visit.
