A second man has now been remanded to prison in connection with a home invasion that occurred earlier this year in the Belama Phase One area of Belize City. Twenty-three-year-old Dwayne Douglas Tillett, a construction worker of Roberto Street, appeared unrepresented this morning before a magistrate, where he was formally arraigned on two counts of aggravated assault and one count of aggravated burglary. The charges stem from a home invasion reported on March 25, at the residence of Barry Johnson located at Beltex Crescent in Belama Phase One. Police allege that armed intruders entered the home and assaulted occupants Edward Jones and Alleia Jones with a firearm during the incident. Investigators say the intruders stole approximately fifteen thousand, seven hundred dollars in jewelry, including a ten-thousand-dollar gold chain, a two-thousand-dollar medal, and a gold ring valued at two thousand, nine hundred dollars belonging to Johnson. Tillett pleaded not guilty to all three charges. However, due to the nature of the offenses and allegations involving the use of a firearm, bail was denied and he was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until August third, 2026. Tillett now joins his brother, twenty-six-year-old Jory Bowden, an assistant land surveyor, who was previously charged in connection with the same case. Bowden was arraigned on April 1 on a single charge of abetment to commit aggravated burglary. He also pleaded not guilty and was denied bail. According to police, investigators reviewed phone communication allegedly exchanged between Bowden and Tillett, which they believe links the brothers to the planning and execution of the home invasion. Dwayne Tillett is scheduled to return to court on August 3.
