Belizean Punta Rock artist Daniel Cacho, better known by his stage name “Lova Boy,” was among a group of eight deportees who arrived in Belize today at the Philip S. W. Goldson International Airport. Reports indicate that the flight carried several deportees from the United States, with Cacho drawing particular attention because of his long and troubled history with the law in the U.S. Cacho, a Dangriga-born entertainer who rose to prominence in the Punta Rock scene during the early 2010s with songs such as “Tornado” and “You Dah Wife,” has faced multiple legal issues over the years while living in the United States. In 2018, reports surfaced that he had been arrested in Los Angeles on kidnapping allegations and was being held without bail. In later years, Cacho again made headlines after authorities in Washington State accused him in connection with a liquor store robbery involving a minor. According to U.S. media reports, the incident allegedly escalated when a firearm was reportedly produced during a confrontation with a store employee. Court documents cited in those reports indicated that Cacho faced robbery-related charges and concerns were also raised about his association with the underaged female involved in the incident. More recently, immigration enforcement authorities in the United States detained Cacho as part of deportation proceedings. Social media posts and Belizean online reports identified him as one of several Belizeans being processed for removal from the U.S. following his legal troubles there.
