Poultry Farmers Receive Biosecurity Training In Stann Creek


The Ministry of Agriculture, through its Stann Creek Agriculture Department, coordinated a Poultry Disease and Biosecurity Training aimed at improving poultry health management practices and enhancing biosecurity measures among poultry farmers in the district.  (The session brought together thirty-five poultry farmers from across Stann Creek and focused on disease prevention, farm sanitation, and strategies to safeguard poultry production from outbreaks and other threats.  The training was facilitated by veterinary consultants with the Belize Poultry Association, Dr. Victor Gongora and Dr. Joe Myers, who delivered presentations on common poultry diseases and the importance of maintaining strong biosecurity systems on farms.  Meanwhile, Lionel Irving, representing the Belize Agricultural Health Authority, better known as BAHA, provided information on poultry disease surveillance and emphasized the critical role farmers play in the early detection and reporting of possible outbreaks.  At the end of the training, participants were presented with certificates recognizing their active participation and commitment to improving poultry management practices within the district.
