Police say investigators continue to pursue multiple leads into the brazen murder of Belmopan physician Dr. Naun Ulices Bonilla, who was gunned down on Friday morning while reportedly taking his young daughter to school in the Las Flores area of the capital city. During today’s weekly police briefing, police spokesperson ASP Stacy Smith confirmed that investigators are actively examining several possible motives behind the killing, including whether the attack may have been targeted or connected to Dr. Bonilla’s personal or professional dealings. Authorities say surveillance footage and witness statements remain a key part of the ongoing investigation.
As previously reported, thirty-six-year-old Dr. Bonilla was driving his white Toyota Highlander near the corner of Ramirez Street and Maravilla Street shortly after eight o’clock Friday morning when occupants of a white vehicle reportedly pulled alongside his SUV and opened fire. Police say the barrage of bullets caused Dr. Bonilla to lose control of the vehicle before crashing into a nearby house. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
