Police Investigate Fatal Lords Bank Shooting Of George “Tal Buay” Anglin

Police in the Belize District are investigating last night’s fatal shooting of forty-eight-year-old George Anglin, also known as “Tal Buay”, in the Lords Bank area near Ladyville.

The shooting happened shortly after nine o’clock on Old Well Road. Police say Anglin, a construction worker, was at home with his wife when a man arrived on a bicycle.  Moments later, shots were heard.  When police arrived, Anglin was found lying face down in front of his home with apparent gunshot injuries to the body. Police Staff Officer ASP Stacy Smith told reporters that investigators have received information suggesting that Anglin had reportedly been receiving threats prior to the murder.

ACP Stacy Smith, Belize Police Department:“What we have gathered so far in the course of this ongoing investigation is that Anglin was at home when someone called out for him and it was when he went outside that he was met with gunfire which resulted in his demise. No motive has been established in this incident as police investigation continues.”

Reporter: Had he been receiving any threats?
ACP Stacy Smith, Belize Police Department: “I spoke with the investigator and he indicated yes and those are being followed. As I stated it’s an ongoing investigation as more information is learned and it becomes necessary to be shared that will be done.”

Interestingly, ten years ago, Anglin’s father was found inside his Orange Walk home with fourteen stab wounds to the body.  George and his brother were detained for questioning.  Later, in December last year, his brother, Berris was killed inside his home, also in Orange Walk, with as many as nine gunshots to the body
