One Charged, Another Wanted in Belize City Gun Assault

Police have formally arrested and charged one man in connection with an aggravated assault incident that occurred earlier this week on Neal’s Penn Road Extension in Belize City, while a second suspect remains at large.  Reports are that on Wednesday, 31-year-old Mark Castillo, and 17-year-old Kenrick Olivera reported that on Monday night at around eight o’clock, they were waiting for their bicycles in the Neal’s Penn Road Extension area when they were confronted by two men on a red motorcycle.  According to the report, the passenger known as “Chinch”, allegedly dismounted, pulled out a firearm, and pointed it in their direction. Fearing for their lives, both men ran for cover behind an abandoned structure. Moments later, they reported hearing several loud explosions consistent with gunfire.  The suspects then fled the scene on the motorcycle toward Central American Boulevard. Police, who were in the area at the time, intercepted the motorcycle; however, the passenger managed to escape. Police recovered several items from the scene, including six expended nine-millimeter shells, the red Lifan motorcycle, a black ski mask, and a helmet. Following investigations, Lamb was formally arrested and charged on Thursday with two counts of aggravated assault. He was cautioned and exercised his right to remain silent.  Police say that the suspected shooter remains wanted in connection with the incident, and investigations are ongoing.
