Ministry of Health Adds New Ambulances to Strengthen Emergency Response

The Ministry of Health and Wellness this morning conducted a handover ceremony for three brand-new Toyota ambulances, set to strengthen emergency medical services across the country. The vehicles are destined for the Punta Gorda Community Hospital, the Placencia Polyclinic, and the San Ignacio Community Hospital, facilities serving communities across the Toledo, Stann Creek, and Cayo Districts respectively. The purchase was made by the Government of Belize in recognition of the urgent need to modernize and update aging local fleets. The addition of the new ambulances is expected to have an immediate and direct impact on patient care, significantly improving the quality of inter-facility transfers within the public health network. Patients requiring access to secondary or tertiary care, as well as those being transported to diagnostic support services, stand to benefit from the upgraded emergency transport capacity. The move signals the government’s continued commitment to strengthening Belize’s public health infrastructure and ensuring that communities, particularly those in more remote areas, receive timely and reliable medical attention.
