Maya Mopan Residents Prepare for Community Clean-Up Campaign

Residents of the Maya Mopan community in Belmopan are preparing to take part in a major clean-up campaign this weekend aimed at improving the environment and promoting community pride among young people and families in the area.  The initiative is being organized by the Belmopan Child Advisory Body and is scheduled for Saturday at seven-thirty in the morning at the Maya Mopan Field. Organizers say volunteers will be working together to remove garbage and clean public spaces throughout the community.  Participants will be provided with garbage bags, gloves, and refreshments as part of the campaign, which organizers hope will encourage greater community involvement and environmental responsibility.  Belmopan Correspondent Ljay Wade spoke with City Councilor Coretta Banner who is the focal point for this weekends’ initiative.  

Organizers are encouraging residents, students, and community groups to come out and support the campaign as Maya Mopan residents work together to create a cleaner and healthier environment for families and future generations
