LPG Prices Drop Slightly Across Belize

The Government of Belize has announced a slight decrease in the controlled prices for Liquefied Petroleum Gas, with new rates taking effect today, May 6.  According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and New Growth Industries, through its Supplies Control Unit, the updated pricing structure reflects a reduction of two cents per gallon, driven primarily by a decrease in acquisition costs.  Under the new pricing, import wholesale LPG across all districts is now set at four dollars and fifty-seven cents per gallon. At the retail level, urban areas, including Belize City, Belmopan, San Ignacio, Orange Walk, and Dangriga, will see prices fixed at one dollar and forty-one cents per pound, or six dollars and seventeen cents per gallon.  Meanwhile, in rural areas, the controlled price has been set slightly higher at one dollar and forty-three cents per pound, or six dollars and twenty-seven cents per gallon.  The Ministry notes that the revised pricing also reflects a shift toward sales by volume at both the wholesale and retail levels, aligning with national standards for LPG distribution.  Officials say the pricing structure is based on a seventy-thirty propane-to-butane mixture, in accordance with Belize’s national specifications for liquefied petroleum gas.  The Supplies Control Unit is advising the public that these prices are now in effect nationwide, as the Government continues to monitor global fuel trends and adjust local pricing accordingly.
