Health Ministry Receives Technology Boost for Maternal Care


The Ministry of Health and Wellness has received a significant boost in its efforts to protect mothers and children, following the handover of ten all-in-one desktop computers and a video projector.  The donation comes under the project, “Strengthening the EMTCT Strategy with Maternal and Child Health Services.” Directly tied to regional efforts aimed at eliminating mother-to-child transmission of HIV, syphilis, hepatitis B, and Chagas disease across the Caribbean, a goal that Belize has already made measurable strides toward through its achieved EMTCT validation. Officials say the technology will allow health workers to deliver more efficient, timely, and integrated care for mothers and children across the country. The equipment, was made possible by the India-UN Development Partnership Fund through the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation and was implemented by the Pan American Health Organization and the World Health Organization.
