The case against embattled educator Macario Coy has been dismissed, bringing an end, at least for now, to months of legal uncertainty surrounding the longtime principal. Coy appeared today before the Punta Gorda Magistrate’s Court in connection with allegations of misconduct stemming from a report made in November of 2025. However, the matter was dismissed following action taken by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, effectively clearing him of the charges and allowing him to walk free. The allegations centered on a claim of sexual assault made by a 36-year-old teacher, after which Coy was placed on leave from his position as principal of Corazon Creek Technical High School. He has served as headmaster of the institution for more than eleven years. In a message to our newsroom this evening, Coy maintained his innocence, stating, “I was innocent from the onset.” While the court’s decision brings closure to the criminal proceedings, questions still linger surrounding the circumstances that led to the allegations. Sources have suggested that the claims may have been made with malicious intent, though that has not been tested in court. It remains unclear whether Coy will be reinstated to his post or if he intends to pursue legal action in response to the accusations.
