In Belize City today, the Belize Coast Guard hosted a Mother’s Day program at its headquarters under the theme “Anchored in Two Duties.” The event honored Coast Guard mothers for their dual roles, serving in Belize’s maritime sector to protect the country’s waters, while also fulfilling responsibilities at home as mothers. The celebration brought together servicewomen and their children in recognition of family, sacrifice, and national duty. Coast Guard Commander Rear Admiral Gregory Soberanis highlighted the importance of recognizing mothers within the Coast Guard and what their service represents for women in Belize’s maritime security sector.
Lieutenant Commander Bellini also spoke on the challenges Coast Guard mothers face while balancing service and family life. One Coast Guard mother shared words of encouragement, urging others in the maritime sector to continue serving with strength, commitment, and resilience, while also sending a message to mothers across the country.
The maritime sector plays a key role in Belize’s development, from protecting fisheries and marine resources to securing shipping routes and responding to emergencies at sea, with the Coast Guard at the center of these operations. Officials say the program also aimed to boost morale and recognize the personal sacrifices made by women serving in the maritime sector, beyond the uniform.
