Classrooms Burglarized at St. John Vianney

Police are investigating a burglary reported at St. John Vianney Primary School in Belize City, where two classrooms were broken into and several items stolen.  According to reports, information about the burglary was received shortly after nine-thirty this morning. Investigators responded to the school compound and met with Vice Principal Joan Soberanis, who reported that the incident occurred sometime between six o’clock on Friday evening and seven o’clock on Saturday evening.  Soberanis told police that classrooms R17 and R20, which house Standard One and Standard Two students, were targeted. She reported that from classroom R20, thieves made off with two black Lasko fans valued at one hundred and sixty dollars, along with a jar containing twenty dollars in coins. Nothing was reportedly stolen from classroom R17, however the door to that classroom was damaged during the break-in.  Police say entry into both classrooms was gained after the doors were forcibly stomped open. Soberanis reported that repairs to the damaged doors have already been carried out at a cost of approximately six hundred and fifty dollars.  Scenes of Crime personnel processed the area but no fingerprints were recovered. Investigations into the burglary continue.
