Boy Hospitalized With Facial Fracture After Bicycle Accident

A ten-year-old boy is undergoing medical treatment, and recovering from multiple injuries, including a facial fracture, after he was reportedly knocked down while riding his bicycle home from school yesterday.  The incident has left the child hospitalized and his family shaken as they now cope with the aftermath of the frightening accident.  The boy’s mother declined an on-camera interview but spoke with our Belmopan correspondent, Ljay Wade, about the ordeal and the injuries her son sustained. According to the family, the child had been making his way home from school when he was hit and thrown from his bicycle.

LJ Wade, Cayo Correspondent: We’re currently in the SalvaPan area of the capital where a road traffic accident took place yesterday at the corner of Panama Street and Cemetery Road that you’re seeing now. If you would see a little bit down more there’s the Saint Martin’s Government School and now yesterday a child from the Saint Martin’s Government School he was knocked down by a motorcycle right where I am standing, he was he was on his way home from school during the lunch hour. Now he’s 10 year old Kai Pook he’s a standard three student it seems that he was riding his bicycle heading home for lunch when he was knocked down by a speeding motorcycle. Now I’ve been in contact with Kai’s mom and she said she doesn’t want to give an interview but she did pass on some information to me as she believes persons need to know what happened to her son. So according to Miss Sho her son 10 year old Kai Pook was on his way from school and upon reaching this curve to take this Panama Street entrance that is when her son was knocked down by a motorcycle. Kai was on a bicycle and he was knocked down by someone on a motorcycle. Now according to multiple eyewitnesses after the person knocked down Kai off his bicycle he got upset with Kai. He started to curse Kai, even though Kai was laying on the ground, his face was filled with blood. The motorcycle man cursed him out, blaming him for the accident and drove off. Now, according to Ms.Sho when they came to pick up Kai he was completely covered in blood and he could not speak well. They took him to the hospital where they did some CT scans and thankfully there is no brain damage but unfortunately he does have a fracture in his face that will require surgery. Currently Kai and his mom they’re out district, they’re currently seeking medical attention to get the cost off that surgery but thankfully again, no brain damage, just a fracture to the face. According to Ms. Sho, she will be pressing charges as the person who knocked down her son he was detained yesterday but he was let go, so she will be pressing charges when she returns to the capital city later today. She wanted me to share her banking information if persons would be willing to assist because she’s estimating the surgery will cost in the thousands. So that would be Nora Sho, Atlantic Bank account number 2120002812.

Further details surrounding the circumstances of the accident were not immediately available up to news time.
