Residents of Benque Viejo Town have several upcoming opportunities for community engagement, economic activity, and youth development, as the Town Council rolls out a series of initiatives and events. On Saturday, March 28, Centennial Park was the venue for a Market Night event. The initiative aimed to support local entrepreneurs by providing a platform to showcase and sell their products while boosting economic activity within the town. On Easter Sunday, April 5, the town council will host its first-ever Triathlon at its Playa del Carmen. Athletes planning to participate are reminded to bring their own kayaks and bicycles, while small businesses are also being encouraged to take advantage of the event to reach customers. Meanwhile, Mayor Rosales today joined the Town Council’s morning briefing to officially welcome twenty students selected for the Easter Holiday Jobs Program. The students will spend the next two weeks working alongside staff across various departments. Each weekday morning, workers gather at six o’clock at the Town Council for briefings on daily assignments. These sessions also serve as a space for staff to raise concerns, offer recommendations, and address issues affecting residents. The Council says the program is part of its continued commitment to youth development, helping students earn income to support their education while assisting their families. Meanwhile, in recognition of Women’s Month, Honorable Thea Garcia-Ramirez joined the Benque Viejo Town Council in celebrating ten outstanding women from the community. The honorees, including entrepreneurs, educators, and advocates, were recognized for their contributions to national and local development. The ceremony aligned with this year’s theme, “Balance the Scales,” highlighting justice, equality, and safety for women and girls.
