Belize’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade today hosted two high-level diplomatic engagements, signaling the country’s ongoing commitment to deepening ties with key global partners. In the first engagement, Minister Francis Fonseca, welcomed Her Excellency Ana Luisa Vallejo Barba, the newly appointed Ambassador of Mexico to Belize, for the presentation of copies of her credentials. During the meeting, Minister Fonseca underscored the long-standing and brotherly relationship between Belize and Mexico, highlighting the shared history, geographic proximity, and mutual respect that continue to define the bilateral partnership. He also extended best wishes to Ambassador Vallejo Barba for a successful tenure. For her part, Ambassador Vallejo Barba expressed appreciation for the warm reception and reaffirmed her commitment to strengthening cooperation between both countries. Discussions focused on expanding trade opportunities and enhancing interconnectivity, as Belize and Mexico work together to advance sustainable development and improve the quality of life for their citizens. In a separate but equally significant diplomatic engagement, Minister Fonseca also received His Excellency Amino C.Y. Chi, the new Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan), for the presentation of copies of his letters of credence. Minister Fonseca welcomed Ambassador Chi as the official representative of Taiwan and conveyed his best wishes for a productive tenure. Ambassador Chi, in turn, thanked the Government of Belize for its warm reception and emphasized his readiness to further strengthen the already close ties between the two countries. Their discussions centered on advancing the bilateral agenda, with both sides reaffirming their shared commitment to cooperation grounded in mutual respect and longstanding diplomatic relations.
