Belize Rural High Students Trained in Healthy Relationships and Gender Violence

Students at Belize Rural High School are now better equipped with critical life skills and awareness following a training session hosted yesterday by the Office of the Special Envoy for the Development of Families and Children, in collaboration with the Spouses of CARICOM Leaders Action Network. The initiative focused on key social issues affecting young people, including domestic violence, gender-based violence, building healthy relationships, and menstrual health. Organizers say the sessions were designed to provide students with practical knowledge while fostering open and supportive discussions around topics that are often considered sensitive.  As part of the outreach, twenty-five female students were also presented with “Power Over Period” care packages. The kits included essential hygiene products aimed at supporting menstrual health, while also helping to build confidence and reduce stigma among young women.  The Office of the Special Envoy expressed appreciation to the school’s administration and staff for facilitating the session, noting that such partnerships are critical in promoting education, empowerment, and overall well-being among Belize’s youth.
