Belize Reviews Progress on Blue Economy Development Strategy

A critical review of Belize’s progress in developing its blue economy is now underway, as the Ministry of Blue Economy and Marine Conservation convened a high-level stakeholder workshop today.  The Ministry is hosting a Stakeholder Validation Workshop focused on the Stocktaking and Implementation Review of Belize’s Blue Economy Development Policy and Strategy, a framework that has guided the sector since its adoption in 2022.  The engagement brings together key stakeholders from across sectors to assess how far the country has come in implementing the policy, while also identifying gaps, challenges, and new opportunities for growth. The process is expected to play a vital role in shaping the next phase of Belize’s blue economy agenda.  Officials say the workshop is designed to foster open dialogue and collaboration among participants, ensuring that a wide range of perspectives are considered as the country works to strengthen its marine and coastal industries.  The review comes at a time when Belize continues to position itself as a regional leader in sustainable ocean management, with a focus on balancing economic development with environmental protection.
