A Belizean delegation is in Taiwan this week as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen academic cooperation between the two countries. CEO in the Ministry of Education, Dian Maheia, is leading the four-member team, which includes President of the University of Belize, Vincent Palacio. The delegation is in Taiwan since Sunday, engaging in discussions aimed at deepening educational partnerships and expanding opportunities for collaboration. During the visit, Taiwan’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Chen Ming-chi, hosted a luncheon for the Belizean officials, where he underscored the importance of education as a central pillar of the long-standing relationship between Belize and Taiwan. Chen also expressed optimism that the visit would help open new avenues for cooperation, particularly in areas such as academic exchange, training, and institutional development. This marks another engagement for Maheia in Taiwan, following her participation in May 2024 alongside Prime Minister John Briceño at the inauguration of Taiwan’s President Lai Ching-te and Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim.
