Police in Belize City are investigating a brazen early morning home invasion that saw a woman robbed at gunpoint inside her residence. Reports indicate that shortly after seven this morning, 39-year-old Golda Samuels, an operations manager of Nurse White Street, visited the Precinct One Crimes Investigation Branch to report the incident. Samuels told police that at around 5:17 a.m., as she was preparing to leave for work, she opened her front burglar bar door and stepped outside when she was confronted by two unknown men. The individuals, both dressed in dark clothing and wearing ski masks and gloves, reportedly forced her back inside her home. One of the men, she said, pointed what appeared to be a firearm at her and held her at gunpoint in the living room while the other ransacked the house. During the ordeal, the intruders made off with a quantity of jewelry and personal belongings, including gold rings, a wristwatch, a rosary chain, earrings, and cash. The total value of the stolen items is estimated at just over two thousand two hundred dollars. Before fleeing, the men reportedly instructed Samuels to lie on the floor and count to twenty, after which they escaped in an unknown direction. Police responded to the scene and have since processed the area. Investigators say surveillance cameras were observed in the vicinity and are expected to be reviewed as part of the ongoing investigation.
