Belize City Woman Charged with Wounding and Damage to Property

A Belize City woman is out on bail after being formally charged with wounding and damage to property following an incident on Mahogany Street. 28-year-old Asia Alexandra Pitts, an unemployed resident of Mahogany Street, appeared this week before a Magistrate, where she was read two charges, one count of wounding upon Gailyn Panting and one count of damage to property.  Pitts is accused of causing injuries to Panting and damaging her belongings, including an iPhone 16 Pro Max valued at four thousand five hundred dollars and a gold chain valued at three thousand eight hundred dollars.  Pitts, who was unrepresented in court, pleaded not guilty to both charges. With no objection raised to bail, the Magistrate granted bail of two thousand dollars plus one surety of the same amount.  As part of her bail conditions, Pitts is required to have no contact with the virtual complainant, members of her family, or any prosecution witnesses. She must also remain at least one hundred yards away from the complainant.  Pitts was able to meet bail and is scheduled to return to court on May 18.
