The Belize Defence Force (BDF) is celebrating a major aviation milestone after Captain Andre Emmanuel Ayuso successfully completed his inspection as an instructor pilot in Honduras earlier this month. The achievement was followed by a cross-country flight hosted by the Belize Air Wing of the BDF, which brought Captain Ayuso back home to Belize while also serving as an opportunity for BDF pilots to strengthen and test their cross-country flight operational capacity. The flight was conducted using the Cessna C208 aircraft gifted to the BDF by the U.S. Embassy. Brigadier General Anthony Velasquez says the accomplishment represents another important step forward for the force and its growing aviation capabilities.
According to the Honduran Air Force, Captain Ayuso received his certification diploma at the Colonel Hernán Acosta Mejía Air Base after completing the course under the framework of the System of Cooperation Among the American Air Forces, known as SICOFAA. The program is aimed at strengthening regional military cooperation, professionalism, and capacity building among air forces.
