BDF Installs New Parks for Children in Belize City

The Belize Defence Force is strengthening its role in community development, following the installation of two new children’s parks aimed at creating safe and engaging spaces for young Belizeans.  The initiative was carried out by the BDF’s Light Engineering Company, which installed prefabricated playgrounds at St Martin’s Neighbourhood Park and within the BDF Marriage Quarters. The parks were donated by the Straughn Foundation and officially handed over to BDF Commander, Brigadier General Anthony Velasquez.  The Light Engineering Company (LEC) is a specialized unit within the Belize Defence Force tasked with providing engineering, construction, and technical support for both military operations and national development.  The LEC frequently collaborates with government ministries; local councils; NGOs and community organizations and private sector partners.
