Belize’s premier agricultural showcase was officially declared open this afternoon in the nation’s capital. The National Agriculture and Trade Show 2026 annually draws hundreds of attendees for the start of the country’s biggest annual celebration of agriculture, enterprise, and innovation. This year’s opening ceremony featured a special regional presence, with Guyana’s Minister of Agriculture, Zulfikar Mustapha, who also serves as CARICOM’s lead head for agriculture, attending as a distinguished guest. His participation underscores the importance of regional collaboration in strengthening food security and agricultural development across the Caribbean. Minister Mustapha highlighted the significance of the event, noting that it brings together the key pillars of economic growth, enterprise, innovation, and agriculture, while creating opportunities for knowledge sharing and advancement within the sector.
Locally, Minister of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise, Rodwell Ferguson, emphasized that this year’s theme reflects Belize’s continued push toward modernizing agriculture while empowering local producers and entrepreneurs. Ferguson spoke on the importance of innovation and resilience within the sector, noting that the NATS provides a platform for farmers, businesses, and stakeholders to showcase their products, exchange ideas, and explore new technologies.
