BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP): Argentina superstar Lionel Messi announced his retirement from international football yesterday, bringing to an end a 21-year career with the national team that was crowned by World Cup glory in 2022 and secured his place among the game’s greatest players. “It was a decision that hurt – and still hurts deeply – but I understand that the time has come,” the 39-year-old Messi said on his Instagram account.
