The Chargé d’Affaires at the United States Embassy in Belize, Katharine Beamer, recently visited the Belize Defence Force Forward Operating Base at Sarstoon River as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen military cooperation between Belize and the United States. According to the U.S. Embassy, the visit formed part of continued engagement between both countries’ security forces aimed at reinforcing collaboration on border security and addressing the threat posed by transnational criminal organizations operating within the region. During the visit, Chargé d’Affaires Beamer met with Belize Defence Force personnel stationed at the forward operating base and received briefings on the operations carried out in the Sarstoon area, which remains a strategic location for monitoring Belize’s southern maritime and riverine border. The engagement also included discussions on ongoing military-to-military cooperation between Belize and the United States, particularly in areas such as training, security coordination, and regional stability. In a statement shared by the U.S. Embassy, Belize was recognized as a strong advocate for regional security and a reliable partner in the effort to counter illicit activities that threaten stability in Central America and the Caribbean. //////////
