Members of Belize’s security forces covered fifty miles yesterday to help police athletes get to the World Police Games in the Dominican Republic. Officers from the Police Department, Coast Guard and Belize Defence Force joined the fundraising relay from Belmopan to Belize City. They set off from the Ministry of Home Affairs building and finished in front of the Queen Street Police Station. The money raised will help cover the Belize Police Department team’s participation in the games, scheduled for October twenty-sixth through thirtieth. Belize’s athletes are expected to compete in swimming, basketball, the ten-kilometre run and judo. The relay brought the three services together in support of officers preparing to represent the country overseas. A total of how much money was raised in yesterday’s event has not been disclosed.
