San Pedro Lebanese Community Protests After Deadly Supermarket Attack

Last night’s double murder at Island Supermarket has sparked outrage in San Pedro, with members of the island’s Lebanese community taking to the streets this evening demanding justice. Scores of protesters gathered outside the San Pedro Police Station, insisting that those responsible be brought to justice without delay.  The demonstrators temporarily blocked traffic in front of the station in what was described as a peaceful but emotional protest. Holding their ground outside the police compound, family members, friends, fellow business owners and supporters called for a comprehensive investigation, the swift arrest of the gunmen, and greater security for residents and business owners on the island.  Police maintained a presence throughout the demonstration, and there were no reports of confrontations or arrests. The Lebanese community says it will not rest until those behind the deadly attack are identified, arrested and prosecuted.
