Olivia Dean’s “Man I Need” becomes her first song to surpass 1 billion streams on Spotify. The song reached the mark on Thursday April 16, 2026, less than a year after its release.
Released on 15 August 2025 as the third single from Dean’s second album, The Art of Loving, “Man I Need” has become a fan favorite into a global pop-soul phenomenon. Written by Dean alongside Tobias Jesso Jr. and Zach Nahome, and produced by Nahome, the song won Song Of The Year at the 2026 MOBO Awards. It is also up so Song Of The Year and Best Pop Song at the American Music Awards this year. Dean has described the soul/pop tune as “forward, sexy, fun” and “made for dancing.”
In the UK, “Man I Need” gave Dean her first No. 1 single and helped power a rare chart double, with The Art of Loving topping the albums chart in the same week. In the US, it became her first Billboard Hot 100 top 10 and climbed as high as No. 2.
“Man I Need” also reached No. 1 in multiple markets including Australia, Canada, Ireland, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Belgium’s Flanders region, and Iceland. The song’s international rise turned what first looked like a standout album single into one of the biggest global hits of the era.
It earned a Brit Award nomination for Song of the Year and won Song of the Year at the 2026 MOBO Awards, further cementing its place as the record that pushed Dean from rising star to fully established pop force.
