Mother and Daughter Lose Home in Orange Walk Fire

A mother and daughter lost their home in a fire in the Trial Farm area of Orange Walk Town on Sunday evening.  Sixty-three-year-old Blanca Estela Pena and her twenty-year-old daughter, Elia Meza, reportedly left their wooden house near Sparrow Street and San Lorenzo Road to attend church. When they returned shortly before six o’clock, the building was engulfed in flames.  Meza spoke with Love News about the fire and its impact on the family.

Firefighters contained the blaze, but the uninsured house was almost completely destroyed. No injuries were reported, and the cause remains under investigation.  People wishing to assist the family can contact Meza at 620-1951.
