Jamaican reggae artiste Blvk H3ro and Cen’c Love, daughter of the late reggae legend Bunny Wailer, have joined forces to breathe new life into his classic song “Fig Tree,” introducing its message to a new generation while preserving its connection to Jamaica’s musical heritage.

Recorded in Trench Town, the reinterpretation revisits a track from Bunny Wailer’s celebrated 1976 album Blackheart Man. The new recording features Blvk H3ro in the lead, with Cen’c Love contributing vocals that bring a personal family connection to her father’s work.

The collaboration is the first release from Rastaman 50, a conceptual album by The Wailers Trio commemorating the 50th anniversaries of three influential solo albums released in 1976: Bunny Wailer’s Blackheart Man, Peter Tosh’s Legalize It and Bob Marley’s Rastaman Vibration.

Music executive Maxine Stowe said the project will feature contemporary interpretations of songs from the three albums, alongside earlier material from the Wailers’ Upsetter period.

Scheduled for release on November 6, 2026, the album will feature several Kingston-based creatives, including Blvk H3ro, Dahvid Slur, J Written and Cen’c Love.

For Cen’c Love, the project provides an opportunity to continue her father’s musical legacy through her own artistry. Her participation also maintains the Livingston family’s connection to The Wailers Trio, following her inclusion in the group’s current configuration.

Blvk H3ro’s involvement is also rooted in a personal connection with Bunny Wailer, giving the collaboration significance beyond its musical arrangement.

The project revisits themes that were central to the Wailers’ music, including freedom, African identity, resistance to oppression and self-determination. Through the new interpretation of “Fig Tree,” the artistes seek to retain those messages while presenting the music to contemporary audiences.

The album’s release also falls within the anniversary period of the 1930 coronation of Emperor Haile Selassie I in Ethiopia, an event of deep historical and spiritual significance to the Rastafari movement.

Following “Fig Tree,” the project will turn its attention to “Dreamland,” continuing its celebration of Bunny Wailer’s musical contribution and the legacy of Blackheart Man.
