One hundred and twenty primary school students from communities along the Macal River are heading into the new academic year with new school bags and essential supplies, following a back-to-school initiative by Hydro Belize Limited. The company hosted the students and their families at its San Ignacio headquarters on Monday. The children, ranging from five to twelve years old, were selected from six schools in Calla Creek, Cristo Rey, Bullet Tree Falls, San Ignacio, Santa Familia and Santa Elena. The programme included an interactive safety presentation, games and activities intended to encourage the children as they prepare to return to the classroom. Vice President of Finance, Corporate Secretary and Chief Financial Officer Yaksim Betty Tam Moreno told the students that the initiative was intended not only to provide school supplies, but also to remind them that their communities support them and believe in their potential. The event concluded with refreshments, group photographs and activities for the students and their families.
