“Hey Sexy Lady” by Shaggy featuring Brian and Tony Gold has now been certified Silver in the UK.
According to the British Phonographic Industry (BPI), the song has surpassed 200,000 units in streams and sales equivalent units as of March 27, 2026 as measured by The Official Charts Company.
Released on 3 September 2002 as the lead single from Shaggy’s sixth studio album Lucky Day (MCA Records), the track is built around Christopher Birch’s “Sexy Lady Explosion riddim,” which also has T.O.K.’s She’s Hot, Tanto Metro & Devonte’s Hey Girl, General Degree’s Bounce Somebody and Wayne Marshall’s Marshall Town.
However, Hey Sexy Lady written by Shaggy, Christopher Birch, Rickadoo George Ducent, Robert Livingston, Brian Gold and Tony Gold is the only song from that Riddim to gain international success. Upon its released, it peaked at number 10 on the UK Singles Chart.
Beyond the UK, “Hey Sexy Lady” peaked at number 4 in Australia and Canada, number 3 on both the Australian Urban chart and in Belgium (Flanders), as well as number 3 in the Netherlands (Dutch Top 40) and Portugal. It reached number 6 in Belgium (Wallonia), number 5 in France, number 7 in Italy, number 9 in Austria, and number 10 in both Germany and the UK Singles Chart. Elsewhere, it charted at number 4 on Italy Airplay and the Netherlands Single Top 100, number 13 in Scandinavia Airplay, number 14 on the Eurochart Hot 100 Singles and in Sweden, number 18 in Ireland and Switzerland, number 24 on European Dance Radio, number 28 in Hungary, and number 29 on both European Radio and in New Zealand.
In the United States, the song had more modest success, reaching number 37 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles Sales chart, number 33 on Rhythmic Airplay, number 38 on CHR/Rhythmic, number 50 on CHR/Pop, number 59 on Hot Singles Sales, and number 97 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. On the year-end charts for 2002, it ranked number 81 in Australia, number 10 in Canada, number 65 in the Netherlands, and number 188 on the UK Singles chart.
The song has surpassed 220 million Spotify streams and has been featured on several movie soundtracks including Kangaroo Jack, Along Came Polly in 2004 and She’s The Man in 2006.
Elsewhere Sean Paul and Keisha Cole’s “Give It Up To Me” is now certified Gold as of March 26. 2026.
