Ghana/Jamaica Festival of Homecoming for Ghana December 4- 5

A new cultural and economic bridge between Africa and the Caribbean is set to take shape this December, as Ghana prepares to host the inaugural Ghana/Jamaica Homecoming Festival in Accra from December 4–5.

The initiative, aimed at strengthening diaspora connections and deepening cultural and trade ties, is being championed by Jamaican-born artist Gramps Morgan, who emphasized that the event extends far beyond entertainment.

“This festival is a trade show,” Morgan said, noting that participants from sectors such as fashion, food, and agriculture will come together to explore business opportunities and collaboration between Jamaica and Ghana.

Organizers say the festival is designed to provide a structured platform for members of the African diaspora to reconnect with their heritage, while also fostering tangible economic partnerships. Activities will include cultural immersion experiences, creative showcases, and business networking sessions.

The event has already secured strong institutional backing, including support from Musicians Union of Ghana. Its president, Bessa Simons, described the festival as a significant step in positioning Ghana as a global cultural hub.

“This is about using music and shared identity to strengthen international engagement,” Simons said, pledging the union’s full support.

The festival is being jointly organized by Broadway Entertainment and Dadason Entertainment, with execution led by Six Degrees Africa.

As Ghana continues to expand its diaspora engagement strategy, the Homecoming Festival adds to a growing list of initiatives aimed at leveraging culture as a tool for global connection and economic development.

For Morgan and fellow organizers, the mission is clear: to create a space where shared history translates into modern opportunity. “It’s more than just a festival,” he said. “It’s about reconnecting.”
