A 38-year-old Gardenia Village resident has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison after being charged with two counts of rape involving a woman with whom he was reportedly in a relationship. George Cecil Bull appeared unrepresented before Senior Magistrate Mannon Dennison in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court today. He was arraigned on two indictable counts of rape. However, due to the nature of the offences, no plea was taken. The charges stem from allegations that Bull raped a 29-year-old cashier on two separate occasions, June 22 and June 24 of this year. Police say the woman reported that Bull entered her home on both occasions and forced her to have sexual intercourse. The prosecution strongly objected to bail with the Senior Magistrate Dennison agreeing and denied bail for Bull. He was subsequently remanded to the Belize Central Prison until August 12. Police say the complaint was made on June 25, one day after the second alleged incident. Investigations into the matter continue.
