Customs officers have intercepted more than a kilogram of suspected cannabis during a routine inspection at the Queen’s Bond Customs Warehouse on Caesar Ridge Road, Belize City. The discovery was made on the afternoon of July 3, when an officer conducting a physical examination of a container consigned to a local logistics company found a cardboard box addressed to a person in Benque Viejo del Carmen, Cayo District. Inside the package, officers reportedly found five vacuum-sealed parcels containing a green leafy substance believed to be cannabis. The parcels had a combined gross weight of 1,210 grams and reportedly carried markings identifying different strains. Shipping documents found with the package listed the consignee in Belize and identified the sender as being based in Oklahoma in the United States. The suspected drugs were secured by authorities, and the matter remains under investigation.
