Caye Caulker Woman Charged With Attempted Murder for Stabbing of Ex-Boyfriend

A Caye Caulker woman has been charged with attempted murder following the stabbing of her former boyfriend.  Thirty-three-year-old businessman Aaron Gentle reported that he was socializing at Mangrove Beach on Sunday evening when his former girlfriend, 27-year-old Courtney Bowman, contacted him and asked to meet to discuss their relationship.  Gentle reportedly travelled by jet ski to a pier on the north side of the island, where Bowman was waiting. According to his account, Bowman became emotional after he told her that their relationship could not be repaired.  Gentle alleges that as he prepared to leave, Bowman jumped onto the jet ski and stabbed him twice in the neck with a knife. The two reportedly struggled and fell into the water before Gentle managed to escape on the jet ski and obtain assistance.  He was initially treated on Caye Caulker and later transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. A doctor classified his injuries as wounding.  Bowman was detained on Wednesday and has since been charged with attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm and wounding.
