Several restaurant operators and business owners are raising concerns about the quality of water supplied by Belize Water Services after businessman Michael Singh posted photographs of a heavily discoloured household filter. Singh said the filter was installed on the BWS line entering his home and alleged that the buildup originated from the public water supply. Other business owners reported similar experiences. Ernest Bradley said he has been replacing his filters more frequently, while Jeremy Spooner reported finding about a quarter-inch of mud in filters used to prepare ice and coffee. Businessman Andre Augustus Pitts also claimed that the water has affected his ice machine, resulting in monthly servicing costs of approximately five hundred dollars. The source and composition of the material shown in the filters have not been independently confirmed. Love News is meeting with BWS later this week, and will report accordingly.
