Belmopan Police, Residents Meet to Address Public Safety Concerns

The Belmopan Police Formation met with business owners and residents on Tuesday as part of efforts to strengthen cooperation and address public-safety concerns in the capital.  The meeting brought together the commanding officers of the Belmopan and Maya Mopan police formations, other police personnel, Belmopan Mayor Pablo Cawich and members of the business and wider communities. Residents of the Belmopan Expansion area also attended. Participants were given an opportunity to share their experiences, raise concerns and propose solutions to issues affecting their safety and the wider community.  Discussions focused on crime prevention, policing strategies and practical ways residents, businesses and law-enforcement officers can work together more effectively.  Police say the engagement forms part of their community-oriented approach to policing and is intended to strengthen relationships while creating a safer environment for residents, businesses and visitors to Belmopan.
