Belize Joins Global Summit in Kyiv on Building Resilience in Times of Crisis

Belize was among fourteen countries represented at the Sixth Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen, held in Kyiv, Ukraine, on Sunday.  The country was represented virtually by Special Envoy for the Development of Families and Children, Rossana Briceño.  The summit was hosted by Ukraine’s First Lady, Olena Zelenska, under the theme, “World 2026: Finding Stability in Times of Uncertainty.” Discussions focused on how countries can strengthen social resilience, protect mental health and help families and communities overcome crises.  Participants shared national experiences and programmes aimed at helping people cope with conflict, economic pressures and other global challenges. The programme was divided into four areas: discovering sources of strength, finding meaning, enduring and taking action, and remaining united.  Belize joined representatives from Germany, Israel, the Czech Republic, Türkiye, Guatemala and Georgia online, while six other countries attended in person.  The annual summit brings together the spouses of world leaders to promote international cooperation in humanitarian, health, education and social development initiatives. This year’s gathering was held on August 24, as Ukraine marked its thirty-fifth anniversary of independence.
