A Belize City man has been ordered to stand trial for an alleged theft after appearing in court yesterday. Thirty-one-year-old Noal Robateau, also known as “Noah,” appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court where he was served with seven pages of disclosure related to a theft charge stemming from an incident reported in December 2025. Robateau, a bus conductor, has been on remand at the Belize Central Prison after being unable to meet the bail conditions that were initially granted to him shortly after the charge was filed. Bail had been set at one thousand dollars plus one surety of the same amount. According to police reports, the incident occurred on December 15, 2025, at around three twenty in the afternoon. The virtual complainant told police that he was walking home along Cemetery Road when he stopped to speak with two acquaintances known to him as “Warrior” and “Noah” at a restaurant located across from the Vin Fa Shopping Center. The complainant reported that the men asked him to purchase drinks for them. He agreed but said he would buy the items from the Golden Sky Supermarket instead. According to the report, “Warrior” accompanied the complainant while Robateau allegedly remained at the restaurant. While waiting for confirmation of a phone credit purchase at the supermarket, the complainant realized that his secondary phone, a black Poco phone valued at about two hundred and eighty dollars, was missing. The phone had been in a transparent case containing one hundred and thirty Belize dollars and fifty U.S. dollars. The complainant later returned to the restaurant where security camera footage was reportedly reviewed in the presence of police officers. According to investigators, the footage showed Robateau removing the phone from the complainant’s bag pocket. Police say Robateau denied stealing the items and also denied being present at the location. Following the report made to police at the King Street Police Station, the matter was taken to court. Robateau, who appeared unrepresented, was served with disclosure documents today and his case has now been set for trial. The matter is scheduled to return to court on July second, 2026.
