Belize Electricity Limited (BEL) is co-hosting the three-day CARILEC Human Resources, Corporate Communications and Customer Service Conference 2026, bringing together electric utilities, regional and international partners, independent power producers, and energy sector stakeholders from across the Caribbean. Last night’s opening ceremony, held at the Best Western Plaza Belize’s River Hall, was officially declared open by Belize City Mayor Bernard Wagner. Also in attendance was Dawn Sampson Nunez, General Manager of BEL’s Employee Corporate Services Division. Opening remarks were delivered by CARILEC Director and Statia Utility Company CEO Fred Cuvalay, who spoke on CARILEC’s impact across the Caribbean, including Belize.
Executive Director of CARILEC, Dr. Cletus Bertin, also highlighted the significance of Belize being selected as this year’s host nation.
Running under the theme “Aligning Purpose for Authentic Engagement and Impact,” the conference focuses on workplace culture, employee engagement, and customer communication within the energy sector. The Belize event is one of several CARILEC conferences planned for 2026, with additional sessions slated for Dominica, Barbados, Guyana, the Bahamas, and Jamaica./
