Armed Robbers Steal $9,000 in Cash From Radisson Fort George Office


Police are investigating a robbery reported yesterday evening at The Residence, an arm of the Radisson Fort George Hotel in Belize City.  According to police, just before seven o’clock, they were alerted of a robbery at the establishmentInvestigators were deployed to the location on Cork Street and met with 33-year-old Marlene Williams, the Accounts Payable Clerk.  According to Williams, at around six thirty, two male individuals dressed in full black clothing and armed with what appeared to be 9-millimeter pistols entered her office and demanded money.  Police say the suspects escorted Williams to another office, where she was tied up. After the men left, she managed to free herself and returned to her office, where she discovered that a cash pan containing nine thousand Belize dollars, her purse with personal documents, one hundred Belize dollars in cash, and two Samsung cellular phones of unknown value were missing. The suspects reportedly made their escape through the front gate of the compound.  Police say the scene was processed, the surrounding area canvassed, and surveillance footage reviewed. However, no useful information was obtained from the video footage at this stage. Anyone with information that may assist police in identifying the suspects or clarifying the circumstances surrounding the robbery is encouraged to contact the nearest police station.
